When shapewear comes into play the top two reactions are “Oh no, liquid diet?” or “At least I look good”. These two responses are based on the pain some women endure because shapewear. But we do not have to suffer in pain to look good for our next outing. I can speak from experience. There is no fun sweating your hair out, being out of breath and having to fight dizzy spells while enjoying your outing, event, party, etc. When I wear shapewear, I want smoothing to conform not to be sculpted. I want my dress to look neat in my pictures not boxy. I want my shape to stay my shape, not become another woman’s. The struggles of shapewear and looking good can be harsh. But, there are several brands that provide a smoother look without the pain. These two options should deliver the smoothing effect and the best feel.

This is the SPANX Open Bust Body suit. I prefer it since you can wear your own bra that fits you. Most of the options that have cups are not universal for all women. That means if you are curvy, top heavy or plus size you may not get the best experience from the shapewear that offers you a built-in bra.

This second option is the Commando Zone smoothing Body short. This brand has a great compressing effect on most of its shapewear. The downside is the sizes are traditional, meaning no plus size or curvy.

Shapewear is an investment piece but if this is not something you expect to buy after buying your new favorite dress, it can be concerning. I believe all women should own shapewear and have pieces they love and feel comfortable in.
